According to Lao Dong, a section of road over 40m long in Quoi Thien commune, Vung Liem district, Vinh Long province has been eroded for nearly a year and has not been repaired yet. This greatly affects the travel conditions and economic development of the locality.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - a green-skinned grapefruit farmer in Quoi Thien commune, Vung Liem district - said that since the landslide occurred, more than 1ha of his grapefruit garden has often had to be sold at a much lower price than the market price. Like the last Tet holiday, his family's grapefruit was only sold for 10,000 VND/kg, while the market price was 15,000 or 17,000 VND/kg.
"I hope the authorities at all levels will quickly overcome the landslide situation so that people here can easily travel and transport goods for trade," Mr. Phong added.

Also due to landslides, students and people had to take a detour of more than 4 - 5 km. To help, Ms. Do Thi Mieu (Phuoc Ly Nhi Hamlet, Quoi Thien Commune) opened a temporary path for people to move around. However, due to the small path, it can only be used by pedestrians, bicycles, and motorbikes.
"But after nearly a year of not repairing the landslide, people traveling on the temporary road also damaged the family's fruit trees and livestock. Not to mention, every night there are many people passing by the house, so I also feel worried," Ms. Mieu added.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Phan Thanh Minh - Head of Phuoc Ly Nhi Hamlet, Quoi Thien Commune, Vung Liem District - said that the landslide road here is causing many difficulties in people's travel and trade.
According to Mr. Minh, due to landslides, people have no choice but to sell goods at low prices. If they want to sell at high prices, people have to transport agricultural products to areas where trucks can travel.
"We hope that authorities at all levels will quickly take action to completely resolve the landslide situation to stabilize life and continue to develop the economy," Mr. Minh added.

Mr. Le Van Tham - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Vung Liem district - said that the project to repair the landslide section of the road in Vung Liem district has a total cost of over 1.2 billion VND. However, due to problems in the bidding process, the repair progress has been delayed.
"Currently, the construction unit has begun to deploy the deposit, carry out construction items and commit to completing the project before the April 30 holiday so that people can conveniently travel and develop the local economy," Mr. Tham added.
