On the morning of September 8, Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau chaired a meeting with city leaders, district departments and branches to discuss solutions to overcome incidents after storm No. 3.
Accordingly, storm No. 3 caused serious consequences in Hai Phong city, including 2 deaths and 40 injuries.
Most of the roads and streets had broken trees, lights, traffic signals, signs, and flooded communication lines, causing serious congestion, traffic activities were delayed and interrupted...
Many houses, offices, businesses, warehouses, factories, and livestock farms were damaged, had their roofs blown off, and electric poles broken.
According to the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Hai Phong City, the damage to traffic infrastructure, trees and damage to houses and headquarters is initially assessed as very large and cannot be accurately and in detail assessed and counted.
In addition, 5,000 hectares of flowering rice were flooded, more than 1,750 hectares of vegetables were flooded, 1,000 hectares of fruit trees, and 400 hectares of ornamental flowers and plants were severely affected.
Particularly serious is the power system is heavily affected, causing power outages in most areas, leading to water plants not being able to operate and having to cut off water; the communication system has problems, is interrupted, and loses signals in many places...
After listening to the reports from the units, Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau directed: Units must quickly count the amount of damage, including urgently fixing telecommunications, electricity, water, traffic, and environmental problems. The City Party Secretary requested that sectors and localities take all measures to ensure smooth traffic, to be completed by tomorrow. The electricity sector must ensure power supply for people and businesses to operate normally. Currently, many places do not have electricity, so water cannot be pumped to prevent flooding.
Organize visits to the dead, and find free treatment for those injured by the storm.
In addition, the Hai Phong Secretary also requested the Department of Construction to direct and fix the situation of fallen and broken trees. It is necessary to check which trees can be fixed, because planting a tall green tree is not easy and quick.
