On May 1st, Lao Dong reporters' records at An Phu intersection showed that traffic was smooth and vehicles moved conveniently after the N3 bridge branch was officially opened to traffic.
The official operation of the N3 overpass branch has helped to clear traffic from Mai Chi Tho street to Dong Van Cong. Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung (resident of Tan Thuan ward) shared his excitement: "Today moving through the An Phu area is very convenient, the traffic density has decreased compared to yesterday. The N3 bridge branch helps to move conveniently and reduce traffic jam pressure. I hope the entire project will be completed soon so that gateway traffic is less congested.
The An Phu traffic intersection construction project was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on March 28, 2022, with a scale of investment of 3 complete grades. This is a key project to solve traffic needs for the main traffic flows between the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway (HLD), Mai Chi Tho, Luong Dinh Cua and Dong Van Cong roads.
The N3 bridge branch item under package XL10 (Construction of N3 and N4 overpasses) has a total value of 124.171 billion VND from the city budget capital. This bridge branch is located at the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection, organizing one-way traffic with 2 lanes, connecting to the new Giong Ong To bridge to lead to Dong Van Cong road.
The N3 bridge branch has a total length of nearly 500 m, design speed of 50 km/h. The main bridge section is 395.7 m long, the bridge deck width is from 9 m to 10.10 m. The project uses a prestressed reinforced concrete box girder structure poured on-site on a fixed scaffolding system, placed on a 1-200 mm diameter drilled pile foundation.
Started on February 19, 2024, after more than 2 years of efforts by the investor, the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, and design consulting and joint venture supervision units, the item has been completed on schedule.
The opening of the N3 bridge branch not only helps complete the technical infrastructure of the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection area but also improves exploitation capacity, reducing prolonged congestion in the most important intersection area in the East of the city.
To date, the An Phu intersection project has completed items such as overpass N2, underpass HC1-01, underpass HC1-02, overpass N3 and right branch of Giong Ong To bridge. The items put into operation significantly improve traffic jams at this intersection.
However, the investor still has obstacles in the construction of the N1. 2 overpass branch because the site clearance for Luong Dinh Cua street has not been completed. Recently, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc directed to advance compensation money to soon have construction site.
