Afternoon of July 29, Nguyễn Văn Bách - Project Director of the Sơn La city bypass road (Vietnam Road Administration) - stated that by 4:30 PM the same day, the landslide of more than 5,000m3 of soil and rock on the Sơn La city bypass road had been temporarily resolved.
However, due to weather conditions and the risk of further landslides, authorities advise residents and vehicles not to travel through the route.
The landslide from the talus on the Sơn La city bypass road, at km304+620, in Bản Lụa, Hua La commune, Sơn La city, occurred on the morning of July 27.
After 2 days of efforts to resolve the issue, the forces have basically cleared more than 5,000m3 of landslide soil and rock; at the same time, they are urgently cleaning the road surface.
"After cleaning the road surface, vehicles can circulate. However, as heavy rain is forecasted to continue, the risk of landslides may persist, so residents and vehicles should not travel through this route.
Authorities have also placed warning signs at points along the route. They continue to inspect and monitor the landslide risk to ensure safety for people when participating in traffic," Mr. Bách said.
