Martyrs' remains found along with tanks and buttons of soldiers' shirts

Quang Tri - The forces collecting martyrs' remains continue to find a remains in Dan Hoa commune, whose identity has not been determined.

On the afternoon of September 7, in Bai Dinh village, Dan Hoa commune, Quang Tri province, Team No. 1 for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains, Political Department, Military Command (CHQS) of Quang Tri province continued to find and exhume a martyr's remains.

Previously, on September 3 and 4, functional forces discovered 2 sets of remains of martyrs in this area.

From the above position, officers and staff of Team No. 1 for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains coordinated with the Party Committee, local authorities and people of Bai Dinh village to expand the search area.

The force used the method of digging and blocking, searching for each layer of soil in the area about 5m away from the previously discovered location. This was originally the foundation of an old cemetery, currently a melaleuca forest area of people.

After many hours of searching, the rescue force discovered the remains at a depth of about 1.2m, wrapped in a tarpaulin.

The remains have seriously decomposed, mostly turned black soil, leaving only a section of the arm bone about 19cm long.

At the location where the remains were discovered, functional forces also found 8 buttons of soldiers' clothes, 18 nails for coffins, a tent and a rope to tie the remains.

Currently, the identity and hometown of the martyr have not been determined.

After exhumation, the remains and artifacts are preserved by Team No. 1 for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains to continue researching, comparing and verifying information.

The unit also performs care and incense offering according to customs and regulations during the time of continuing to verify the identity of martyrs.
