On the evening of September 13, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of Thai Binh Ward People's Committee, Hung Yen province, said that the body of Major Tran Van Tung had been found.
Initial information, at more than 6:30 pm on the same day (September 13), functional forces and the rescue team found the body of Major Tran Van Tung at a location about 300m from Bo bridge.
Up to this point, rescue teams are still continuing to search for the person who jumped off the bridge.
As Lao Dong newspaper reported earlier, at about 9:40 am on September 12, Major Tran Van Tung (born in 1987, Battalion Commander of Battalion 3, Infantry Regiment 568, Hung Yen Provincial Military Command) was driving a motorbike on his way back to his unit from duty. When he reached the middle of Bo bridge (in Tra Ly ward, Hung Yen province), he discovered a person intending to commit suicide.
Not abandoning the victim, Major Tran Van Tung turned the car around, got out to intervene and encourage. After that, when he returned to get his motorbike, this person suddenly jumped into the Tra Ly River.
Discovering the incident, Major Tran Van Tung immediately took off his uniform and personal belongings and jumped into the river to rescue people.
When approaching the victim struggling under the water, due to the strong current, both were swept away.
At about 10:15 am on the same day (September 12), Infantry Regiment 568 received a report from people about the incident. The unit quickly arrived at the Bo bridge area to direct the search and collect relevant information.
