Army major missing after jumping into river to rescue people in Hung Yen

Hung Yen - Major Tran Van T jumps into Tra Ly River to rescue missing person and victim.

On September 12, according to the Military Command of Hung Yen province, at about 10:15 am on September 12, Infantry Regiment 568 received a report from people about soldiers of the unit bravely rescuing a drowning person in the Bo bridge area, in Tra Ly ward, Hung Yen province.

At about 9:40 am on the same day, Major Tran Van T (born in 1987, Battalion Commander of Battalion 3, 568th Infantry Regiment) was driving a motorbike on his way back to his unit on duty, when he reached the middle of Bo bridge, he met a person intending to commit suicide.

Major Tran Van T turned the car around and got out to intervene and encourage. After that, Major Tran Van T turned back to get the motorbike, and the other person suddenly jumped into the Tra Ly River.

Discovering the incident, Major Tran Van T immediately took off his uniform and personal belongings and jumped into the river to rescue people. When approaching the victim struggling under the water, due to the strong current, both were swept away.

Upon receiving the news from the people, the 568th Infantry Regiment quickly arrived at the scene of the incident to direct the search and information gathering work.

As Lao Dong newspaper reported earlier, regarding the above incident, forces and people are searching for 2 people missing under the Tra Ly River.

Directly present at the search area, a representative of Rescue and Relief Team 116 said that by 1:30 pm on the same day (September 12), Rescue and Relief Team 116 was still continuing to search for 2 people suspected of missing at the Bo bridge foot area. In addition to arranging search canoes, Rescue and Relief Team 116 also has divers to dive and search.
