Regarding the particularly serious traffic accident on Provincial Road 172, which killed 3 people, Ms. Tran Lan Anh - Director of Lao Cai General Hospital 1 said: Of the 5 patients who were seriously injured and had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment, patient Ha Thi Toan (51 years old,) has been transferred to 108 Central Military Hospital for treatment.
4 patients including Lo Thi Thuyen (32 years old), Lo Thi Dai (27 years old), Giang A Lay (17 years old) and Ha Thi Huyen (57 years old) have temporarily stabilized their health and are continuing to be monitored and treated at the hospital.

According to the leader of Lao Cai General Hospital 1, in addition to the above 5 patients, 14 victims injured after the traffic accident on the afternoon of October 13 have stabilized their health and have undergone procedures to appear on the morning of October 14.
Previously, at around 12:36 on October 13, a passenger car of Kien Huyen bus company with license plate 21H-017.76, driven by Nguyen Van Duong (born in 1984, in Cau Thia ward, Lao Cai province), was traveling on Provincial Road 172, in the direction from Nghia Lo ward to My Dinh, Hanoi.
When reaching km14+250 of Provincial Road 172 in Minh Phu Village 8, Viet Hong Commune, the vehicle suddenly lost its brakes. The driver proactively informed the people on the bus and then crashed into the positive slope, leading to the accident in which 3 people died on the spot and many passengers were injured.

Immediately after receiving the incident, the Director of Lao Cai Provincial Police directed professional units and Viet Hong Commune Police to coordinate with relevant agencies and people to organize the taking of injured people to the emergency room, verify the victims' identities and at the same time conduct verification and investigation measures to clarify the cause of the accident.
The results of the verification and initial preliminary investigation determined: The passenger car with license plate 21H-017.76 while moving down to the middle of the slope suddenly had a technical problem (the braking system was ineffective), the driver informed the people on the vehicle and proactively crashed the car into the positive slope to limit damage.

Measuring the alcohol and drug concentrations of driver Nguyen Van Duong did not detect alcohol and drug concentrations in the body.
Currently, Lao Cai Provincial Police are directing relevant units to focus on verifying, investigating, and resolving the case according to regulations.
