As reported by Lao Dong, at around 12:36 on October 13, a passenger car of Kien Huyen bus company with license plate 21H-017.76, driven by Nguyen Van Duong (born in 1984, in Cau Thia ward, Lao Cai province), was traveling on Provincial Road 172, in the direction from Nghia Lo ward to My Dinh, Hanoi.
When reaching km14+250 of Provincial Road 172 in Minh Phu Village 8, Viet Hong Commune, the vehicle suddenly lost its brakes. The driver proactively informed the people on the bus and then crashed into the positive slope, leading to the accident.
The consequences of the accident, which killed Ms. Hoang Dinh T (48 years old, in Cat Thinh commune), Mr. Lo Van H (30 years old, in Nghia Lo ward) and Mr. Ha Dinh N (35 years old, in Nghia Lo ward).


The accident injured 19 others. Of these, 5 people were seriously injured and had to undergo emergency surgery, be treated for traumatic brain injuries and other multiple injuries.
At the time of the accident, the passenger bus carrying nearly 30 people was traveling in the direction of Viet Hong - IC12 Intersection.
After dying in the accident, Ms. Pham Thi Phuong (Lanh residential group, Trung Tam ward) was shocked and recalled: "At that time, I was on a bus down to Hanoi to work. I was on the 2nd floor, while sleeping in the car, when I saw him driving, I shouted loudly that the car had lost its brakes, so I jumped down quickly."

"Seeing that, I woke up and quickly jumped onto the floor. When I jumped off the floor, the car collapsed, I saw the car's glass broken, I jumped out and escaped," Ms. Phuong said.
According to this witness, at that time, many people in the car panicked and were injured. thinking back at that moment of life and death, Phuong herself still felt scared and felt lucky.
Similar to Ms. Phuong, Giang Thi Me (residing in Ngoc Chien commune, Son La province) is currently being treated at Lao Cai Province 1 General Hospital for monitoring traumatic brain injury, cervical spine injury, right elbow and hip locality injury.

Lying on the hospital bed with a shocked and painful face, she gently cried: "At that time, there were many people in the car, all the chairs were people, fortunately I only suffered minor scratches. I was on my way to work in Bac Ninh, but because I was like this, I didn't go anymore".
