On July 10, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said the reason for not allowing cars to turn left from Cong Hoa Street to the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road.
Previously, from June 28, 2025, at the Cong Hoa intersection - the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa, the median strip was opened so that vehicles from Cong Hoa road (from Truong Chinh street) could turn left onto the connecting road, approach Tan Son Nhat airport's T3 Station or enter the city center.
However, because this intersection is only about 100 m from the Cong Hoa - Truong Chinh intersection, allowing cars to turn left here can cause long waiting stops, affecting traffic at the next intersection.
Therefore, traffic organization in this area will be carried out in stages. In the immediate future, the city will only allow two-wheeled vehicles to turn left onto the connecting road, while monitoring the actual situation to make appropriate adjustments in the following stages.
According to the survey, the number of vehicles waiting to turn left onto the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road is mainly concentrated during morning rush hour, causing the traffic flow to extend near the Truong Chinh - Cong Hoa intersection.
Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that in the coming time, it will study a plan to allow some types of cars to turn left outside of peak hours. It is expected that this plan can be implemented in July 2025.
Before the median strip was opened, vehicles from the Truong Chinh - Cong Hoa direction who wanted to enter the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road had to go around small routes such as Hoang Hoa Tham, 18E..., which took time and increased traffic pressure on already narrow routes.
The Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting route is more than 4 km long, 6 lanes wide, with a total investment of over VND 4,800 billion, and will be opened to traffic in April 2025 with the expectation of reducing the load on the Truong Chinh - Cong Hoa axis and increasing the connectivity to Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat airport.
However, due to some shortcomings in traffic organization, the effectiveness of the route has not been promoted as expected.
