According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, the unit received a notice from Vietnam Waste Treatment Company Limited (managing Da Phuoc landfill) about changing the time frame for receiving waste at Da Phuoc Waste Treatment Complex.
Specifically, from August 15, this unit will only receive waste at night, from 6pm to 6am the next morning, instead of operating 24/7 as before.
This change is considered not in accordance with the current operational reality of the city. According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the government system at all levels has just gone through a process of merging and reorganizing the apparatus, especially at the ward and commune levels - where waste collection activities are directly responsible. Therefore, sudden changes in waste receiving time will cause difficulties in collection and transportation, potentially causing widespread waste congestion.
Previously, on June 30, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee sent a document to Vietnam Waste Treatment Company Limited, requesting this unit to coordinate and keep the current waste receiving time.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment also continued to issue a document on August 7, requesting the company to postpone the application of the change until after the city completes reviewing and rearranging the entire process of collecting and transporting household waste.
However, on August 11, the company still sent a notice that it would change the time of receiving waste from August 15, causing the authorities to "not be able to keep up".
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City is currently continuing to propose that businesses postpone the adjustment time to October 1 to ensure stability in waste collection and treatment - an important link in protecting the urban environment and people's lives.
