Look up the validity of health insurance cards to avoid losing benefits before the new school year

Vietnam Social Security recommends that parents, students, and pupils proactively look up the value of health insurance cards to ensure their medical examination and treatment rights.

Preparing to enter the new school year, Vietnam Social Security recommends that parents, students (HSSV) proactively check the validity of health insurance cards after completing health insurance participation, in order to promptly detect and reflect if information has not been updated or is not accurate.

According to plan No. 3115/KH-BHXH dated August 13, 2026, from September 1, 2026, Vietnam Social Security starts the data conversion phase and operates the use of personal identification numbers/citizen identification cards (ID cards/CCCD) to replace social insurance codes on nghiệp vụ software.

This is a change in the method of identification on the system, not changing the participation process, contribution - benefit data, card usage value as well as health insurance medical examination and treatment benefits of participants, including students.

The conversion process is carried out according to a roadmap, ensuring that transaction history data, the process of participation, enjoyment of regimes and electronic records that have arisen are fully inherited; not causing administrative procedures to arise only due to changes in identification codes.

For cases where the ID card/ID card information is complete, accurate and verified with the National Population Database, the system implements conversion according to a roadmap.

How to look up the validity of health insurance cards on the Vietnam Social Security Electronic Information Portal

For the function of looking up the validity of health insurance cards on the Vietnam Social Insurance e-Portal, parents and students can proactively look up information about participation and validity/value of health insurance cards in the following steps:

Step 1: Access the Vietnam Social Security Electronic Information Portal at baohiemxahoi.gov.vn, select "Online lookup" → "Search for health insurance card validity".

Step 2: Enter complete and accurate information as required by the system.

At the "Social Insurance Number/Health Insurance Card" field, users can enter the social insurance number/health insurance card or ID card number/CCCD for lookup; for cases using ID card number/CCCD, the information must be synchronized and verified with the National Population Database. Next, enter your full name, date/year of birth according to the registered information.

Step 3: Check the box "I am not a robot", then select "Search". If the entered information is correct, the system will return the search results.

Step 4: Check the display results, including the main information such as card code, full name, date of birth, place of initial medical examination registration, card validity/validity and time of completion of 05 consecutive years.

After the school has completed paying health insurance for the new school year, parents and students should re-check the validity of the card; if the information has not been updated or is not accurate, contact the school or the social insurance agency for inspection and support.

Other channels to check and use health insurance information

- Through the VssID - Social Insurance application: Log in to the VssID application, select "Health Insurance Card" to check information, usage value and health insurance benefits.

- Through the VNeID application: If health insurance information has been integrated, users log in to VNeID, go to "Document Wallet", select "Health Insurance Card" to view information.

- Via the Customer Care Switchboard of Vietnam Social Security: Call 1900 9068 and provide information according to instructions for help with searching.

Vietnam Social Security recommends that parents and students proactively look up the validity of health insurance cards, especially after completing health insurance contributions for the new school year; and at the same time ensure that ID card/ID card information is fully and accurately declared.

The identification code conversion is carried out according to a roadmap on the system, according to the principle of not interrupting transactions and not affecting the health insurance benefits of participants.
