At the Program, the Organizing Committee presented 100 gifts to 100 fishing families, each gift worth more than 6 million VND including: Battery, LED light, battery combo, medicine bag, handbook, specialized rope roll and 1 million VND voucher.
The Organizing Committee also awarded 25 scholarships to students from fishing families who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies. Each gift includes 2 million VND in cash and a set of school supplies.
The program "Lighting up the sea with fishermen" organized by Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper since the beginning of 2023, taking place in 28 coastal provinces and cities across the country, with a total implementation cost of more than 30 billion VND to support, encourage and accompany fishermen; stand side by side with the Government and local authorities to find solutions to remove the "yellow card" for Vietnam's seafood industry.
Ha Tinh is the 17th locality where Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper organizes the program "Lighting up the sea with fishermen".
The 16 localities where the program has previously been organized include: Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ninh Thuan, Phu Yen, Quang Tri, Quang Binh, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre, Binh Thuan, Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, Tien Giang, Quang Ngai, Kien Giang, Thai Binh, Khanh Hoa.
Through 16 provinces and cities, the Program has directly visited and presented more than 3,000 gifts to fishermen with a total value of nearly 15 billion VND with activities such as: medical examination and free medicine for fishermen; organizing legal seminars related to the removal of the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood; organizing the Response Program with fishermen to connect the aspirations of fishermen with local authorities.
The program also awarded more than 500 scholarships worth more than 1 billion VND and many other valuable gifts such as school supplies, milk, and food to fishermen's children who have overcome difficulties to study well.
The program “Lighting up the sea with fishermen” aims to promote and raise awareness of law compliance for fishermen when fishing and exploiting at sea, helping to implement the Action Plan to remove the IUU yellow card issued by the Prime Minister; contributing to the development of Vietnam's fisheries industry more and more sustainably.
Propaganda to fishermen and the community about patriotism, love for the sea and islands; arouse feelings, sense of responsibility to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. Raise people's awareness of environmental protection, sustainable development of resources from the sea.
