Information from the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) said that at 2 am on July 24, after many hours of continuous construction, MRB and the EPC Contractor Consortium completed the lowering of the first steel cage of the surrounding wall system at Station S3 (Vanh Dai 1 Station) under the urban railway line No. 5 project, Van Cao - Ngoc Khanh - Lang - Hoa Lac (metro No. 5).
This is a complex technical item with a super-heavy steel cage 42m long, weighing more than 38.5 tons. According to MRB, the process of lowering the steel cage requires synchronous coordination between 2 500 ton and 180 ton lifting track crane to rotate the steel cage from horizontal to vertical position before accurately lowering it into a well that has been inspected and cleaned.

Also according to MRB, at the Nguyen Chi Thanh - La Thanh intersection, Station S3 is parallel and intersects the ground with the overpass construction project under the Ring Road 1 Project. To solve this challenge, MRB and the Hanoi City Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board have proactively agreed on a plan to coordinate the ground and construction progress.
During the implementation process, the construction scope of piers T3, T4 of Ring Road 1 Project has overlapping surface space with Station S3, including areas for gathering and processing steel mortar, bentonite solution treatment stations as well as part of the construction scope of foundation reinforcement piles (CDM), access walls and surrounding walls.
To ensure the progress of both key projects, MRB and related units have regularly reviewed and adjusted the construction order, agreed on the site organization plan and coordinated to handle technical interfaces. The construction of the fence at Station S3 was deployed on time to both ensure the construction conditions of metro line No. 5 and create conditions for Ring Road 1 Project to continue structural items according to plan.
In addition to monitoring work, because the station's fence wall is built close to piers T3 and T4 of Ring Road 1 overpass, the project has added a solution to reinforce the foundation with a system of soil cement piles (CDM) around the area of the bridge piers to enhance the stability of the soil foundation before the fence wall construction. This is an important technical solution to limit the impact on existing works and ensure safety throughout the construction process.

The smooth coordination between the two key projects at the Nguyen Chi Thanh intersection not only helps optimize the limited construction site but also ensures the overall quality and progress of the city's infrastructure network, while maintaining the highest safety standards for people," Mr. Dang Viet Trung - Deputy Head of Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board emphasized.
MRB will continue to closely coordinate with contractors and related units to ensure progress, quality and safety throughout the project implementation process.
