According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, in the Hai Tien coastal embankment area (Hoang Tien commune, Thanh Hoa province), many serious subsidence and collapse points continue to appear, stretching hundreds of meters.

According to people living near the embankment area, about 20 days ago, many sections of the embankment subsided. After that, functional forces poured soil into the subsidence holes to ensure temporary safety. However, so far, many large subsidence points have continued to appear and have not shown signs of stopping.
The eroded embankment sections may be due to the base being retracted, creating wide gaps, causing the embankment surface to collapse" - a resident of Giang Son village, Hoang Tien commune said.

According to actual observations by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, many sections of the embankment, although built with reinforced concrete, have large gaps in the sewer system (at the foot of the embankment), causing sea waves to pull out the foundation, creating very large cavities. This may be the reason for continuous subsidence.

Currently, to ensure safety for people and tourists, functional forces have placed warning signs in dangerous areas.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the leaders of Hoang Tien Commune People's Committee said that after the incident occurred, the locality reported to the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, requesting to direct relevant departments and agencies to inspect and evaluate. Currently, functional units are studying and proposing handling plans.

It is known that the subsided embankment section belongs to the traffic road project from Phuc Ngu canal to Giang Son village (Hoang Tien commune). The project was approved by the People's Committee of Hoang Hoa district (old) in 2023, with a total investment of more than 220 billion VND, constructed by Tuan Linh Construction Investment Joint Stock Company.

The project is more than 2 km long, including items: a 34 m wide road, embankments and wave shields, lighting system, green trees, stops, parking and auxiliary works. Construction started in February 2024, completed and put into use from June 2025. Currently, the project is still under warranty when subsidence occurs.
