Accordingly, cooperation frameworks need to be concretized with practical projects, products and values, contributing to bringing Vietnam - France economic relations to a new height.

At the working session with corporations and businesses, reporting to General Secretary and President To Lam and French President Emmanuel Macron, Mr. Ngo Chi Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors cum General Director of Vietnam Vaccine Company (VNVC) happily mentioned the important success when VNVC and Sanofi reached an agreement to produce new generation vaccines at the VNVC Vaccine and Biological Products Factory, making Vietnam the first country in Southeast Asia to be able to self-produce these new generation vaccines.

Currently, the project is being actively implemented with large investment items in high-class international standards for pharmaceutical and vaccine production. According to the plan, the factory will be completed in 2027, starting production from 2028 and expected to be commercialized from 2029, with the goal of supplying tens of millions of doses of vaccine each year to Vietnam, moving towards the region and participating in the global supply chain.

Mr. Dung also emphasized his desire that the project will continue to receive the support of the Governments of the two countries, thereby ensuring progress and successful implementation, soon bringing high-quality vaccines at low prices to people across the country. The success of the project in Vietnam will be a premise for Sanofi's "made in Vietnam" vaccine to reach countries in Southeast Asia as well as be ready to participate in the global vaccine supply chain.

Three new generation vaccines prioritized for production in Vietnam

Three types of vaccines prioritized for production include 6-in-1 vaccine with acellular pertussis component, seasonal flu vaccine and meningococcal vaccine. These are essential vaccines with high demand in Vietnam, preventing many dangerous diseases, with a high risk of spread and death for many age groups from young children, adolescents, adults and the elderly.

These new generation vaccines are also identified as belonging to the strategic technology product group according to the Government's Decision. Therefore, promoting domestic production is important for the development of Vietnam's modern vaccine and pharmaceutical industry, increasing proactiveness in the face of breakthrough development needs of the health sector, and gradually enhancing Vietnam's position in the global biotechnology value chain.

The cooperation between Sanofi and VNVC is a milestone in the comprehensive strategic cooperation relationship between Vietnam and France in the fields of health and pharmaceuticals. This event contributes to concretizing major orientations according to Resolutions 57, 68 and 72 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, promoting the role of the private economy, specifically in the field of disease prevention, care and improvement of people's health.
