On July 9, the Vietnam - France High-Level Conference co-organized by the Ministry of Health and the French Embassy in Vietnam with the theme "Strengthening cooperation in deploying strategic technology and strategic technology products on developing new generation vaccines in Vietnam" took place in Hanoi.
At the conference, Vietnam Vaccine Company (VNVC) and Sanofi announced new advances in Sanofi's high-tech vaccine production cooperation at the VNVC Vaccine and Biological Plant. According to the roadmap, Sanofi and VNVC will cooperate in producing some essential vaccines with high demand for children and adults of Sanofi. It is expected that Sanofi's first important new generation vaccines will be produced in Vietnam from 2028.
VNVC also updates the construction progress of the VNVC Vaccine and Biological Products Factory, the list of new generation vaccines prioritized for production to meet the demand for high-quality vaccination for children and adults in Vietnam. The factory is invested with an initial capital of more than 2,500 billion VND on an area of more than 26,000 m2 in Tay Ninh, with the goal of meeting EU-GMP, WHO-GMP and FDA US standards, with a designed capacity of about 100 million doses per year. The factory is ready to meet the process of expanding the vaccine portfolio in the National Immunization Program, contributing to increasing opportunities to access new generation vaccines for people with optimal investment costs.
The VNVC Vaccine and Biological Products Factory is expected to go into operation at the end of 2027, produce vaccines from 2028 and commercialize new generation vaccines from 2029.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly - affirmed that developing technology and producing new generation vaccines is not only the task of the health sector but also a matter of health security and national sustainable development. She emphasized that the Party, National Assembly and Government have issued many breakthrough guidelines and policies to promote research, technology transfer, and vaccine industry development, in which new generation vaccines are identified as a national strategic technology product.
At the same time, Ms. Thanh proposed that the parties build a clear cooperation roadmap to soon create products to serve the people; promote the role of the private sector and the State to create a legal corridor, build public procurement policies to create a sustainable market and develop domestic technological capacity, invest in developing high-quality human resources and towards the goal of making Vietnam a center for research, clinical trials, production and distribution of new generation vaccines in the region.

Mr. Ngo Chi Dung - Chairman of the Board of Directors cum General Director of VNVC - affirmed that in the new development stage of the country, with enhanced position and more and more favorable mechanisms and policies, the private economic sector is determined to be ready to actively participate in large investments in strategic technology fields, contributing to the State in building national capacity in science, technology and healthcare. In that spirit, VNVC has long-term invested to form a comprehensive vaccine and immunization ecosystem, from a network of nearly 300 large-scale immunization centers nationwide, especially investing in building modern factories with large capacity.
We expect to have more breakthrough mechanisms and policies for businesses to continue to invest in developing strategic technology products, contributing to helping people access high-tech vaccines earlier with more reasonable prices, gradually proactively supply important new generation vaccines to the domestic market, improve self-reliance and national health security," Mr. Ngo Chi Dung emphasized.
