On August 18, Steering Committee 515 of Vinh Long province deployed the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains in the Vinh Long City Park area, Long Chau ward.
Attending were Major General Pham Van Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi - Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 515.
Also attending were representatives of the 515 Steering Committee of Military Region 9, members of the 515 Steering Committee of the province, leaders of Long Chau ward, the Resistance Team Council of Regiment 3 and representatives of relevant agencies and units.
Forces deployed to search for and repatriate martyrs' remains in the sidewalk area of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street, on the side of Vinh Long City Park. Before digging, the area was cleared of bombs, mines, and explosives.
The clearance work is aimed at ensuring safety for forces and vehicles participating in the search and gathering. Units are required to perform tasks tightly, in accordance with procedures, ensuring safety throughout the implementation period.
According to the plan, the search and repatriation task is expected to be carried out in 5 days, from August 18 until the task is completed. In case martyrs' remains are discovered, functional forces will take biological samples and prepare dossiers according to regulations.
The martyr's remains collected will be handed over to the Department of Home Affairs for management, and identifying steps will be carried out according to regulations. After completing the task, the search area will be returned to its original state.
The activity is part of the "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains", towards the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027).
Through this, Vinh Long expresses its determination not to leave behind martyrs' remains, contributing to bringing heroic martyrs back to their comrades and families. This is also a practical activity showing the morality of "Drinking water, remembering the source", "Gratitude".
