On June 13, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said it is promoting procedures to soon implement agricultural, livestock and energy projects in border communes, especially on thousands of hectares of inefficiently growing rubber land.
The province advocates focusing on swapping small, fragmented land areas to form large-scale production areas, associated with the advantage of water resources from the Ia Mo irrigation project.
In addition, the locality will build agricultural product gathering and transshipment points, develop cooperatives and strengthen linkages between households to improve production efficiency.
At Thaco Agri's Sustainable Agriculture Project, the enterprise is closely coordinating with localities and departments and branches in planning raw material areas, residential areas, resettlement areas and production land funds; and effectively exploiting the land and water potential of the area.

With the advantage from the Ia Mo irrigation project with a total investment of more than 3,000 billion VND, along with a strategic transport infrastructure system being implemented such as the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway, the Ia Mo border area has many favorable conditions to become a driving force for large-scale agricultural development of the province in the coming time.
In mid-September 2025, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to convert inefficient crop structure for the period 2026 - 2030. Accordingly, the locality plans to convert more than 14,000 hectares of rubber to fruit trees and high-value economic crops.
The goal of the plan is to restructure the agricultural sector in accordance with planning, associated with the development of the value chain, creating sustainable livelihoods, and improving income and living standards for people.
