On December 2, according to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, at power pole No. 174 of the 500kV line circuit 3 in Cam My commune (Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh province), a group of nearly 10 workers from the North Central Power Construction Company (a subcontractor of Song Da Construction and Service Joint Stock Company) were constructing a stone embankment around the foundation area of this power pole.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan That - the investor's supervisor present at the construction site - said that the construction of the reinforced stone embankment around the column foundation has been carried out since the column was erected until now.
According to Mr. That, the stone embankment work at column 174 is expected to be completed in a few days. After that, the area around the construction site will be cleaned up and restored.
However, the restoration will take a long time because it is necessary to agree on a plan with the forest owner (acacia plantation) before it can be implemented.
According to Mr. That, at column 175, the embankment around the column foundation has been completed. At the next column 176, a group of about a dozen workers are also constructing a stone embankment around the column foundation.
Mr. Mai Vu Tran Quang - technical officer of Song Da Construction and Service Joint Stock Company - said that the construction of embankment around the foundation of 500kV power pole circuit 3 is to carry out the design item with the purpose of ensuring the stability of the pole foundation, limiting landslides affecting the pole foundation.
According to Mr. Quang, the construction of this embankment was supposed to be completed in November 2024, but due to the heavy rain, it was delayed and is expected to be completed by the end of this week.
Regarding the landslide and the erosion of a part of the soil previously used to dig the column foundation, Mr. Quang informed that the construction unit had transported and filled the area around the column foundation to balance it. In addition, some remaining soil locations will be covered with a layer of roof surface to limit landslides.
Mr. Quang added that regarding the restoration, the forest owner will have to agree on a plan, possibly compensating the forest owner for the trees affected by the construction of the electric pole, or replanting the affected or damaged part of the forest if requested by the forest owner.
Mr. Bui Xuan Thai - Deputy Head of Technical Department, Central Power Project Management Board - said that the construction of stone embankments around the foundation of the 500kV power pole circuit 3 is to limit landslides and rock slides, and will then be restored according to the Government's direction.
According to Mr. Thai, the construction of the foundation embankment and restoration work is scheduled to be completed in December 2024.
