On May 3, information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police had just discovered a pork sausage production facility using borax.

Previously, functional forces conducted an inspection of the household of Ms. Pham Thi T. (address in Duc Tu neighborhood, Luu Ve ward) - a facility specializing in producing and trading pork sausage.
At the time of inspection, functional forces discovered that the facility was producing 14kg of pork sausage to put on the market for consumption. Quick test results of product samples showed positive for borax. Checking at the processing area, functional forces discovered 1 box containing borax, weighing about 0.5kg.
According to regulations of the Ministry of Health, borax is a substance banned from use in food processing. The use of this substance aims to create chewiness, crispness and extend the shelf life, but it can seriously affect consumer health if accumulated in the body.
Based on the inspection results, functional agencies determined that the establishment had 2 violations, thereby deciding to fine the amount of 62.5 million VND.
