Binh Thuan - By the end of 2024, if the registration for "3 no" fishing vessels is not completed due to the fishing vessel owner's non-cooperation, a deterrent penalty will be imposed.

In recent times, all levels, sectors and localities in Binh Thuan province have made efforts in registration procedures for the "3 no" fishing boat group.

According to data from authorities, the whole province has 2,804 fishing boats in the "3 no" category.

As of December 13, 2024, the province has registered 2,431 fishing vessels according to Circular 06/2024/TT-BNNPTNT.

Cumulatively, the whole province currently has 8,330 fishing vessels registered and updated on the national database VNFishbase.

Currently, the whole Binh Thuan province still has 291 "3 no" fishing boats that have not registered.

The situation of fishing boats losing connection to their monitoring devices at sea still occurs while administrative violations are handled very little.

The number of fishing vessels that have registered but have not yet had their fishing licenses reissued is still large.

Acting Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Thuan province Nguyen Van Chien said: The prevention of fishing boats and fishermen from violating foreign waters continues to be resolutely implemented.

The Department of Fisheries organizes 24/7 duty at the provincial fishing vessel monitoring center to closely monitor and supervise fishing vessels operating at sea, especially fishing vessels operating in border areas, to promptly warn, prevent and not let fishing vessels cross the border and illegally violate foreign waters.

The Provincial Border Guard Command regularly maintains 6 fishing vessel monitoring points, coordinates with functional forces to monitor, grasp the situation and closely supervise vehicles operating at sea, promptly detect fishing vessels operating in border, overlapping and undemarcated areas.

So far, no fishing boats of the province have been found violating foreign waters.

Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai requested sectors and localities to continue to focus on managing, monitoring, and closely supervising fishing vessels and high-risk fishermen, and resolutely not allowing fishermen to violate foreign waters.

In order to control and manage fishing vessels, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee requested units and functional agencies to continue promoting the registration for the "3 no" fishing boat in accordance with the drastic, responsible and methodical spirit;

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province emphasized that it is impossible to let a situation where just a few individuals are slow and uncooperative, affecting the efforts to remove the "yellow card" and seriously affecting the marine economy of the whole province.

Therefore, after December 31, 2024, if the registration of the "3 no" fishing vessels has not been completed due to the fishing vessel owners' non-cooperation or procrastination, localities and functional agencies must resolutely punish and deter these cases.
