In the 2022-2024 period, Tuyen Quang province has achieved many successes in sending workers to work abroad under contracts, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the global economic downturn. This achievement not only creates jobs but also contributes to improving the lives of local people.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Tuyen Quang Province - said that Tuyen Quang Province has more and more prestigious enterprises in the field of sending workers to work abroad, choosing it as a potential location to implement programs and projects; organizing consultation, selection and sending workers to work abroad under contracts.
Many new markets have been consulted and introduced by businesses and chosen by workers to participate in, bringing good results, creating trust and spreading strongly among the people about the effectiveness of sending workers to work abroad under contracts.
"In addition, the pilot program to send workers to work seasonally in Korea under the form of cooperation between localities of the two countries in the province has initially attracted the interest and desire to participate of many localities and workers" - the leader of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Tuyen Quang informed.
Up to now, Tuyen Quang has sent nearly 3,000 people to work abroad, exceeding 186% of the plan set for the 2022-2024 period (1,544 people).
Notably, 1,061 workers went to work abroad in 2023, reaching 149.4% of the plan. The main markets include Japan (509 people), Taiwan (440 people) and South Korea (66 people).
2024 continues to witness growth with 1,136 employees (as of November 15), reaching 142% of the annual plan. Japan and Taiwan continue to be the two key markets with 433 and 589 employees, respectively.
Tuyen Quang province has implemented many practical policies to support workers such as supporting costs for foreign language learning, health check-ups, passports and visas. The preferential loan program through the Social Policy Bank, with a total disbursement amount of VND 33.4 billion for 451 workers.
In particular, 141 poor and ethnic minority workers received support from the National Target Program with a total amount of more than 1 billion VND.
In addition to traditional markets, Tuyen Quang has implemented a pilot program to send seasonal workers to Korea. This program has initially attracted great interest from localities and workers.
The province's work of sending workers abroad has created a strong influence, especially among the youth. Tuyen Quang workers are highly appreciated for their diligence, creativity and good compliance with the laws of the host country.
However, there are still challenges such as the lack of uniform management of workers after returning home, the lack of enterprises headquartered in the province, and sometimes loose coordination between government levels.
Regarding future orientations, the leader of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Tuyen Quang province said that it will continue to promote cooperation with reputable enterprises, expand new labor markets and increase support for workers to access loan policies.
At the same time, the province recommended that the Government and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs supplement appropriate policy mechanisms, especially for the seasonal labor program in Korea.
