On the morning of August 29, 2024, within the framework of a working trip to Indonesia, a delegation from Da Nang city led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, directly worked with airlines Garuda Indonesia and Citilink Indonesia to promote direct flights to Da Nang.
Indonesia is the 4th most populous country in the world and the largest in Southeast Asia with nearly 300 million people. Asia is a favorite destination for Indonesians and the Top 10 favorite destinations of Indonesia are Saudi Arabia; Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Japan, USA, Australia, South Korea and China (According to GlobalData's report).
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee said that Da Nang is an attractive new destination for Indonesian tourists with the advantage of connecting to world cultural heritages and being honored as Asia's leading festival destination, along with short flight distance and visa exemption policy for countries in the ASEAN bloc. Indonesia is one of the potential markets for Da Nang tourism due to its large population and Indonesian people's love for traveling. Therefore, connecting direct flights from Indonesian cities to Da Nang will contribute to promoting the exchange of tourist resources as well as economic development between the two countries in the coming time.
At the meeting, the delegation provided information on destinations, potential and growth of the Indonesian tourist market to Da Nang, shared information on preferential policies for airlines and received proposals from partners. At the same time, the city committed to continue to promote communication and promotion activities to open flights from Indonesia to Da Nang, strengthen the organization of tourism promotion activities, invite Famtrip delegations of travel companies, press reporters and KOLs to experience Da Nang tourism.
Representatives of Garuda Indonesia and Citilink Indonesia airlines expressed special interest and wanted to expand their flight network to new attractive destinations in Southeast Asia, including Da Nang, Vietnam.
Notably, Citilink Indonesia Airlines and PT. UOS Travel Company informed about the plan to open a charter flight route from Jakarta (Indonesia) to Da Nang, expected to operate in December 2024.
