According to data from a report from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), in July, total pickup truck sales in Vietnam were 1,801 units, down 9.5% compared to June (1,990 units). units) and accounted for 6.2% of the total number of cars sold in the entire market in the month.
In this segment, Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max are the only two models with sales growth in July. Meanwhile, the remaining two pickup models, Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Triton, both have sales growth. There were fewer sales in July than in June. However, the sales rankings of these car models did not change.
Ford sold 1,276 Ranger units in July, down 11.5% compared to the previous month (1,442 units) and up 8.6% compared to July 2023 (1,175 units). This is the second consecutive month that Ford Ranger's monthly sales have decreased.
Behind the Ford Ranger is the Toyota Hilux. Toyota's car model sold 271 units in July, far below the leading position of Ford Ranger. This number for Hilux increased slightly by 3 units compared to June. In total, in the first 7 months of 2024, Hilux had 847 units sold, an increase of more than 10 times compared to the same period in 2023 (72 units).
In July, there were 204 Triton pickups sold by Mitsubishi, down 18% compared to June (249 units) and down 12% compared to the same month in 2023 (232 units). This is quite a surprising number because previously in June, Triton's sales increased by 53%. Therefore, this result is not enough for Triton to surpass Hilux and can only stand in 3rd place.
The remaining car model in the pickup segment in Vietnam, Isuzu D-Max, also reached 50 units in July, an increase of 38% compared to June (31 units). Since the beginning of the year, 220 D-Max units have been sold.
