In case they do not want to use VETC e-wallets, vehicle owners can switch to linking with postpaid wallets of banks.

From August 2026, car owners pasting VETC and ePass road toll cards will be deducted an account management fee, at 6,600 VND/month/wallet for individual customers and 66,000 VND/month/wallet for organizations and businesses.

According to VETC and ePass representatives, in case they do not want to use VETC e-wallets or Viettel Money e-wallets (linked to ePass) to avoid paying the above fees, vehicle owners can cancel the link and switch to other methods such as bank accounts, postpaid services, credit cards or international cards.

A notice from VETC Automatic Toll Collection Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as VETC) said that currently, in addition to VETC Wallets, customers using VETC traffic accounts (TKGT) can choose some other cashless payment methods, including postpaid wallets of BIDV and TPBank (postpaid wallets are only applicable to non-stop toll station vehicle services).

For BIDV postpaid wallets, the conditions for use are Vietnamese citizens aged 20 to 55 years old; who have completed VETC account identification; who are vehicle owners and also active VAT account holders and electronic wallets operating at VETC;

The minimum usage time of VAT/VETC e-wallet is 6 consecutive months up to the time of card issuance; spending revenue through VAT/VETC e-wallet is at least 5 million VND/12 of the most recent months; no history of VAT debt in the most recent 6 months.

Instructions to open BIDV postpaid wallet on the VETC application:

Step 1: Log in to the VETC App, select "All".

Step 2: Select "Postpaid wallet".

Step 3: Read the information carefully. Confirm and select "Activate now".

Step 4: Read the terms & conditions carefully. Confirm and select "Continue".

Step 5: Read the information carefully and confirm data sharing.

Step 6: Verify the face and follow the system instructions.

Step 7: Accurately check personal information.

Step 8: Enter personal information to review the conditions for opening a postpaid wallet.

Step 9: Enter the OTP code to confirm the service contract signing.

Step 10: Request to open a postpaid wallet successfully. Wait for application approval.

Step 11: Select "Managing" to view Postpaid Wallet Information and Quota Information.

For TPBank postpaid wallets, the conditions of use are Vietnamese citizens aged 20 to 60 years old; who have completed VETC account identification; who have opened TPBank payment accounts on the VETC application and linked with VETC wallets.

Instructions to activate TPBank postpaid wallet:

Step 1: Go to the VETC app, find and select the later wallet activation icon.

Step 2: View the content of the postpaid wallet.

Step 3: Agree to Share data.

Step 4: Sign the contract: View the content of the Contract and related terms and conditions; receive OTP sent by TPBank to the phone number registered for the VETC account.

Step 5: Receive approval results: Receive the approval result notification; go back to the Payment Management screen and check the later-payment wallet information that has been activated.

However, VETC also notes that customers using postpaid wallets will incur a limit management fee in addition to the transaction value through the station. The limit management fee is calculated at 3% of the transaction value.

For example, for a transaction through a station worth 100,000 VND, customers must pay an additional 3,000 VND limit management fee. The total amount recorded as used and the customer needs to return is 103,000 VND.

In addition to the limit management fee, customers may also incur a late payment fee if they do not pay or do not pay the full amount due.
