On June 29, according to information from the National Competition Committee (Ministry of Industry and Trade), this agency received a report from Honda Vietnam Company on the program to recall Honda SH125i and SH160i motorcycles distributed by businesses in the Vietnamese market to inspect and update software for the instrument cluster.
The number of vehicles affected is 89,908 vehicles produced in the period from August 25, 2025 to April 28, 2026, along with 68 replacement instrument clusters installed from December 6, 2025 to the end of April 28, 2026.
According to information from Honda Vietnam Company (HVN), this unit issued a notice to deploy a recall campaign to update software for the instrument cluster on the SH125i and SH160i car lines manufactured and officially distributed by HVN in Vietnam through the Honda Authorized Car Sales and Service Store (HEAD) system.
The program is implemented to optimize the operating experience and ensure the stability of the display system in some specific usage conditions.
Internal records of the company show that some cars under certain operating conditions may have incorrect information displayed on the instrument cluster.
The instrument cluster system and electrical circuit boards are designed according to technical standards suitable to production requirements, however, due to the specific operating characteristics and usage environment, phenomena such as the speedometer displaying fixed at 0 km/h, loss of display of speed units and total kilometers traveled on the instrument, inaccurate diagnosis of cooling water temperature sensors leading to the car not being able to start, and headlights on the instrument not being on.
The program starts from June 26, 2026, through the Customer Care department, HVN will proactively contact customers with cars eligible for application through the customer care system.
At the same time, customers can also proactively bring their cars to Honda authorized car and service stores (HEAD) nationwide for inspection and software updates.
The total time for testing and software updates is expected to be an average of 12 minutes/vehicle. All vehicles affected will be tested and updated with software for free.
HVN said that this update does not affect the safety of vehicle operation and is proactively implemented by the unit to improve product quality.
