According to the Ministry of Health, among infectious diseases, dengue fever is a global public health challenge with risk factors due to climate change, trade, tourism development, urbanization, increased migration and diversity of disease reservoirs, and limited vector control.
In addition, there is no specific treatment for hand, foot and mouth disease. Subjectivity and negligence in implementing personal disease prevention measures are quite common, especially among children in educational institutions, nurseries and preschools, so the risk of infection increases.
Measles and some vaccine-preventable diseases continue to have the risk of increasing in incidence when vaccination rates have not reached the necessary coverage while management of vaccination subjects is still limited, potentially increasing hospitalizations.
In particular, rabies still has a high mortality rate due to limitations in dog and cat management and low rabies vaccination rates in dogs and cats. People are still subjective and negligent when not getting rabies vaccinations and promptly handling dog and cat bites.
Dangerous emerging diseases transmitted from animals to humans such as Mpox continue to have the risk of increasing incidence with new variants. Highly pathogenic avian influenza still has the risk of appearing as the virus in poultry has been detected in many places.
On December 26, the Ministry of Health said that in order to continue to proactively prevent and control infectious diseases, minimize the incidence and mortality rates of infectious diseases, ensure timely, effective and sustainable control of infectious diseases, limit the risk of outbreaks and be prepared to respond to future pandemics or epidemic emergencies to protect people's health and create conditions for economic and social development, the Ministry of Health will closely coordinate with units to implement the plan to prevent and control infectious diseases in 2025.
At the same time, improve preventive medicine capacity, forecast, monitor and detect epidemics early, and control epidemics promptly and effectively.
Ensure resources and funding for implementation and mobilize departments, branches, unions, local authorities at all levels and socio-political organizations to proactively participate in the work of preventing and controlling infectious diseases.
