On June 3, Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital informed that the team of doctors from the Department of Gastroenterology had successfully performed an endoscopic liver surgery for patient S.T (61 years old, Vinh Long province).
According to the hospital, the patient was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of pain in the right lower back area, accompanied by a prolonged mild fever. Through examination and imaging tests, doctors discovered a 3x4 cm liver tumor, suspected of liver cell carcinoma (HCC).

After a professional consultation, the patient was indicated for endoscopic surgery to lower the IV liver parenchyma - an advanced technique that requires high professional qualifications and modern equipment systems.
The surgery was performed through 4 small channels on the abdomen, using a harmonic ultrasound knife - a type of knife that rarely causes tissue damage, to detach and cut the liver accurately, minimizing blood loss.
After 60 minutes of surgery, the tumor was completely removed. The patient recovered quickly, was able to eat normally and was discharged after 4 days of treatment.
Dr. CKI. Huynh Van Ut Chot - Department of Gastroenterology, Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital informed that endoscopic liver surgery with the support of modern equipment is an important step forward in the treatment of liver cancer and complex liver and gallbladder diseases.
Doctor Huynh Van Ut Chot believes that this is a less invasive technique, helping to reduce damage to surrounding tissues and limit the feeling of pain after surgery. Thanks to that, patients can recover faster, have shorter hospital stays, return to normal activities soon, and improve the quality of life after surgery.
