In Lao Cai, since the beginning of 2025, the health sector has assessed that the situation of infectious diseases has had complicated developments, especially dangerous, emerging diseases at risk of appearing and penetrating.
To strengthen disease prevention and control and proactively implement timely epidemic prevention measures, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province has issued a plan to prevent infectious diseases in humans. This includes the content of controlling 100% of COVID-19 outbreaks if detected and handled promptly.
Up to this point, no COVID-19 cases have been detected in Lao Cai province.

Information from the Lao Cai Center for Disease Control (CDC Lao Cai), to prevent complicated developments of the epidemic, Lao Cai province is proactively preventing epidemics from entering border areas, strengthening monitoring, disease prevention and control.
In addition, people and tourists entering the border gate will be monitored for exothermal heat from a distance, in order to detect early cases with signs of increased body heat to implement epidemic prevention measures according to regulations.
Along with that, it is necessary to increase propaganda so that international tourists and people can grasp the content, thereby raising awareness and voluntarily implementing disease prevention measures.
According to the reporter's records at the entry area, officers of the International Center for Health Quarantine strictly control information from remote infrared body temperature monitoring devices, in order to detect early cases with signs of increased body temperature to implement epidemic prevention measures according to regulations.
To improve the effectiveness of propaganda work, the Center has arranged LED screens at locations for immigration procedures, distributing propaganda content from 7am to 10pm every day on infectious disease prevention measures.
"With the use of remote infrared body temperature monitoring devices, we maintain disease prevention activities every day to promptly detect and prevent epidemics from entering the area," said Ms. Le Minh Trang, an officer of the Department of Health Management and Testing, Lao Cai International Center for Medical Quarantine.

On May 21, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Hoang Quoc Huong - Director of Lao Cai Department of Health said: "We have directed units to strengthen inspection and supervision to detect COVID-19 cases early. Therefore, there are still no signs".
Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Health, Lao Cai border province has prepared facilities, quarantine areas, medical equipment, and medical supplies to organize admission, quarantine, diagnosis, treatment, and infection control.
