Emergency cases increase sharply
At the Stroke Department, Da Nang Hospital, in recent days, it has continuously received emergency cases in serious condition. According to statistics from the hospital, on average, the department receives about 20 new emergency cases per day.
This is an alarming figure, reflecting the clear impact of weather on the health of the cardiovascular and neurological systems.
Among the patients being treated, the case of a 67-year-old female patient (residing in Go Noi commune, Da Nang city) is a typical example.
According to relatives, after dinner, she was still sitting and talking normally when suddenly her body tilted to one side. When her daughter asked, she answered vaguely, her voice unclear.
Immediately, the family took her to the emergency room, but when she arrived at the hospital, she was paralyzed in the left half of her body and fell into a deep coma.
Doctor Le Quang Thien, Department of Stroke, Da Nang Hospital explained that when the weather turns cold, the body has natural reactions to keep heat, but unintentionally creates a risk of stroke.
Cold weather causes blood vessels to constrict, leading to sudden hypertension. In addition, underlying respiratory and lung diseases that often start more severely in winter are also factors that promote stroke.
In particular, for people with a history of high blood pressure, temperature fluctuations are the number one "enemy" that can cause ruptured cerebral blood vessels or the formation of blood clots causing blockage.

Rejuvenating stroke patients
Another worrying reality pointed out by doctors is the "rejuvenation" of stroke patients. Specialist Doctor Duong Quang Hai, Deputy Head of the Stroke Department, Da Nang Hospital, said that in the last months of the year, the rate of patients with cerebral hemorrhage due to high blood pressure increased.
Notably, the department has received many very young patients, only from 20 to 40 years old. The main causes stem from lifestyle, work pressure and failure to control underlying diseases such as hypertension or potential cerebrovascular malformations.
To effectively prevent stroke when the weather turns cold, medical experts recommend that people pay special attention to keeping their bodies warm.
Absolutely avoid sudden temperature changes, especially at night and early morning. Habits such as waking up early to exercise when it is still too cold or showering at night are extremely dangerous actions that can lead to immediate stroke.
In addition, nutrition plays a key role. People need to maintain a scientific diet, reduce salt, reduce fat and drink enough water.
Drinking enough water helps prevent blood clots, thereby reducing the risk of blood clots. For people who already have underlying conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, especially high blood pressure, strict adherence to the doctor's treatment regimen is mandatory.
Finally, periodic health check-ups to control risk factors are the best way to protect yourself from "death" stroke. When you see signs such as: crooked mouth, weak limbs, difficulty speaking, it is necessary to take the patient to the nearest medical facility immediately to take advantage of the "golden hour" in treatment.
It's a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit of a bit.
