Today (September 10), the Ministry of Health held the launching ceremony of the 3rd "I am healthier and more beautiful" contest.
Before giving his speech at the launching ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thuan - Deputy Minister of Health, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Health, expressed his sympathy for the losses and damages that have occurred and are occurring in localities affected by storm No. 3 as well as the damage caused by storms and floods to people's lives.
Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan also said that in the past, the Ministry of Health has issued many directives related to the prevention of storm No. 3 and the work of overcoming the consequences of the storm. Specialized units of the Ministry of Health have issued instructions on medical examination and treatment, epidemic prevention, and environmental sanitation before, during and after the storm.
The Deputy Minister informed that today, leaders of the Ministry of Health will join Government working groups to localities to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
At the launching ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan said: "The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) once released a worrying piece of information that Vietnam is one of the 10 countries with the most sedentary people in the world. I think that each of us should not be ashamed of this assessment but consider it a useful recommendation to look back at ourselves and make appropriate changes."
According to Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan, it is very difficult to change people's habits and propaganda plays a key role: "The health sector has been and will continue to make efforts to prevent this worrying "growth momentum" through policy advice, professional guidance, recommendations, etc., to avoid the pressure that may increasingly increase on the health system due to diseases related to overweight and obesity.
However, the body belongs to each person, eating and exercising are personal, no one can decide. Therefore, initiating movements, promoting the spirit of fitness and practicing scientific nutrition in the community to propagate and raise awareness of self-training is still the most practical and sustainable solution."
Organizing the contest "I am healthier and more beautiful" is extremely meaningful in terms of medical communication and has a widespread effect in society.
"After 2 successful events with thousands of participants, spreading to tens of millions of people, "I am healthier and more beautiful" has become a movement, a communication model for improving community health and goes beyond the meaning of a normal contest" - Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan said.
With the goal of encouraging people to actively exercise and practice scientific nutrition, the "I am healthier and more beautiful" contest attracts more than 3,500 people to directly register to participate each year, and at the same time spreads to tens of millions of people across the country.
The third "I am healthier and more beautiful" contest, starting from September 10, still maintains the spirit of encouraging the community, spreading the exercise movement, spreading inspirational stories about the effort to overcome oneself to become healthier and more beautiful.
