On the afternoon of September 8, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Dr. Hoang Tien Dung - Deputy Director of Xuan Truong Medical Center said that at around 2:00 p.m. yesterday (September 7), when storm No. 3 had a strong impact on Nam Dinh province, the district medical center received a 19-year-old pregnant woman from Xuan Vinh commune who was 38 weeks pregnant, her first child, and had prolonged labor.
After receiving the patient through clinical examination, the doctor found that the fetal heart rate was weak, the fetal head was high and could not be inserted. Immediately, the pregnant woman was assigned an emergency cesarean section to remove the fetus, otherwise it would be dangerous for the baby.
Dr. Hoang Tien Dung added: "At the time of the cesarean section, due to the impact of storm No. 3, the area lost power, the medical center had to use a generator to get light for the surgery. The time of the surgery was very difficult, that was when the storm hit, heavy rain, strong winds, trees fell, it was a miracle that the mother was able to move to the hospital safely. After more than 1 hour of surgery, both mother and baby were safe, the baby girl weighed 2.8 kg".
The health of mother and baby has stabilized and is continuing to be monitored at Xuan Truong Medical Center.
