The decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Trinh Thi Hong, 46 years old, residing in Yen Thai commune, Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province, for the act of "fraudulent appropriation of property". This is one of the subjects involved in the case of impersonating a police officer to "fix the case" was served by the Criminal Police Department, Da Nang City Police.
Since mid-January 2024, the Criminal Police Department, Da Nang City Police, has received reports from people about a subject impersonating a police officer to trick them into "running a case" in order to appropriate property. After collecting evidence, on the afternoon of January 30, the police discovered Tran Kim Hung (41 years old), residing in Hai Hung commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province, receiving 20 million VND from the family of a suspect.
At the investigation agency, Tran Kim Hung confessed that he had previously met Mr. L.T.D, residing in Thanh Hoa province, many times. Hung introduced himself as "Deputy Head of the Legal Inspectorate Division of the Office of the Investigation Police Agency - Ministry of Public Security", had many acquaintances in the police force and could help handle cases related to cases handled and investigated by the Investigation Police Agency of Da Nang Police.
Trusting Hung, on January 30, Mr. D. went to Da Nang to meet Hung and ask him to “fix” a case for his relative. While receiving money from the victim, Hung was caught red-handed by the police, and many related evidences were seized.
Using similar tricks, Hung also successfully carried out two scams in Binh Phuoc province and Ho Chi Minh City. Hung used all the money he got for personal expenses.
Expanding the investigation into the case of impersonating a police officer to “fraud and appropriate property”, the police have temporarily detained Trinh Thi Hong. Hong was the one who “brokered” a victim to ask Hung to transfer her job. However, when the victim transferred money to Hong, the subject appropriated it and used it for personal purposes.
According to the incident, through social relationships, Trinh Thi Hong learned that Tran Kim Hung agreed to "help" Mr. B.N.H.V.B, 31 years old, residing in Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap province, to request a job transfer. However, because Mr. B. did not have enough money as requested, Hung did not help Mr. B. anymore.
In October 2023, Mr. B. asked Trinh Thi Hong to influence Hung to continue helping him fulfill his wish. Through Hong, Hung set a condition that if he helped, B. had to give the full amount of 800 million VND, and Mr. B. agreed. Every time Mr. B. gave money, Hong told Hung but did not specify the amount. Hung also asked to receive the full amount of 800 million VND at once. From October 26, 2023 to January 22, 2024, Hong gave false and untrue information such as giving gifts, taking care of Hung's meals, and going to Hanoi to take care of Mr. B.'s affairs, so he asked Mr. B. to transfer money. Believing Hong, Mr. B. transferred money many times, directly giving Hong a total of 322.5 million VND to "take care of things". After receiving the money, Hong appropriated and used it for personal use.
