Initial investigation results determined that V had a relationship and did business with the couple Nguyen Thi L and Dinh H (both 65 years old), residing in Hai Chau district, Da Nang. Due to business losses and needing money to pay debts and personal expenses, from October 2023 to December 22, 2023, V provided false information that he had rented a warehouse in Hoa Cam industrial park. V took out his phone to show pictures of goods such as beer, soft drinks and vehicles entering and exiting to import goods in large quantities... to gain the trust of his partner. V also gave the prices of some currently available items and offered to supply them to Ms. L and her husband in large quantities but at lower prices than the market price. During the meetings, V lied that he had a warehouse, so Ms. L could rest assured, just transfer money to buy goods at a good price and then leave them in the warehouse, whenever needed, just let her know, V would transport the goods to her house for Ms. L to sell.
Believing V's words, from October 2023 to December 22, 2023, V received and appropriated more than 1 billion 380 million VND from Ms. L.
After discovering the incident, V recovered more than 85 million VND, and currently owes Ms. L and her husband more than 1 billion 290 million VND. According to his confession, V used all the embezzled money for personal expenses and to pay off previous loans.
The Investigation Police Agency, Da Nang City Police have issued decisions to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and grant bail to Trieu Thi T.V (because she is pregnant) for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property". The case is currently under further investigation.
