The People's Court of Thai Nguyen province has just opened a first-instance criminal trial of the murder case against defendant Ly Hong Nam (born in 1988, registered permanent residence at Group 12, Quan Trieu Ward, Thai Nguyen City, Thai Nguyen Province).
According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Thai Nguyen province: At about 3:30 p.m. on September 29, 2022, in group 12, Quan Trieu ward, Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province, Ly Hong Nam, out of anger, had the intention of using a knife to kill Ms. Doan Thi Ut (born in 1966, residing in residential group 12, Quan Trieu ward, Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province).
Accordingly, Ly Hong Nam used a 46cm long metal knife, a 10cm long metal knife handle, the widest version was 5.5cm, to slash Mrs. Ut's right hand, left hand, and right neck 3 times, only when someone else tried to stop him did Nam stop. The consequences of Nam's criminal acts caused Ms. Ut to suffer 12% injuries.
At the trial, defendant Ly Hong Nam acknowledged the criminal act, and at the same time had a sincere attitude to declare and repent. Based on the defendant's testimony at the trial, evidence documents from the case file, as well as the nature and level of criminal acts and on the basis of the proposal of the Procuracy representative, the Trial Council of the People's Court of Thai Nguyen Province sentenced the defendant Ly Hong Nam to a 9 -year sentence for murder. At the same time, compensation for the victim of VND 40 million.
