Nguyen Cong Tru apartment complex was built in 1960, is one of the oldest apartment complexes in Hanoi. After many decades of use, the apartment complex has seriously deteriorated, affecting people's lives.

Records at buildings B1, B2 of Nguyen Cong Tru apartment complex show that the corridors in many areas are dark and lack light.
The space here is damp, walls, ceilings and corridors show many peeling patches, along with large cracks, causing unsightliness and potential safety risks.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam - a resident of the Nguyen Cong Tru collective housing area said that he has lived here for nearly 40 years, since he was young. Over time, he clearly witnessed the deterioration of the collective housing area and the impacts on his family's life.
My family lives on the 4th floor, currently the roof has leaked and is seriously degraded. We have to use nylon to cover the top, but this cannot be completely resolved. The stairs are also in a state of degradation" - Mr. Tam said.
According to him, people here still try to contribute money to repair, but mainly it's just patching up, repairing where it's broken, so it doesn't solve the long-term degradation situation.

We want the collective housing area to be renovated soon. Previously, there was a project to renovate old apartment buildings but it was then stopped, and only one building has been built now. If there is a new renovation project, that is what people really want. Currently, everyone is looking forward to the collective housing area being renovated to make life more stable" - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam shared.
Also living on the 4th floor, building B1, Nguyen Cong Tru apartment complex, Ms. Nguyen Thi Toan's family said that her family's apartment has seriously deteriorated. The entire house is leaking, causing her family to stretch tarpaulins to close the ceiling to limit water leaks affecting daily life.
Residents here all hope that the collective housing area will be renovated soon. Currently, the collective housing area has deteriorated, causing many inconveniences. Along with that, many households are expanding, causing unsightliness and unsafety" - Ms. Toan said.

Nguyen Cong Tru apartment complex is the first pilot renovation project in Hanoi. However, to date, only building N3 has been newly built, while the remaining buildings are seriously degraded.
The reason why the project cannot continue to be implemented is because it does not meet the requirements in Decree No. 101/2015/ND-CP on renovating and rebuilding apartment buildings. Faced with the increasing degradation of the collective housing area, people hope that the project will be renovated soon so that households have a more spacious, safe and stable place to live.
