Golden land left vacant for many years
In Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province, there are currently 7 vacant buildings and land. This situation started in 2021, when the Provincial Public Administration Center came into operation and departments and branches moved to new headquarters. Since then, 7 old headquarters have been abandoned, some buildings have deteriorated and damaged.
Notably, the abandoned properties are all located in the center, on the "golden land" of Kon Tum city. A typical example is the thousands of square meter land area of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of the province, located on two fronts of Ba Trieu and Le Hong Phong streets. This area has been abandoned for more than 3 years, with no one looking after it.
The old headquarters of the Kon Tum Provincial Department of Construction, located at two frontages, is also abandoned with broken glass doors, degraded infrastructure, damaged door paint and furniture. Similarly, a series of other headquarters such as the Department of Home Affairs, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Science and Technology... are all in a state of "empty houses and gardens", with no one coming in or out.
In Gia Lai, a "golden land" of thousands of square meters, where the Se San Hotel is located, has been abandoned for many years. The land is in a prime location with two frontages on Hung Vuong and Tran Hung Dao streets, the bustling center of Pleiku city. The building is now seriously degraded, causing regret and sorrow for the people of the mountain town.
Consider auctioning soon, using land for the right purpose
Mr. Nguyen Lan - a resident of Pleiku city said: "People have long not understood why the prime land has been abandoned, and the authorities have not reinvested in any construction projects. The degraded houses have ruined the urban appearance of the mountain town."
Similarly, the thousands of square meters of land belonging to the Gia Lai Province guesthouse has been abandoned and degraded for many years. Inside, weeds grow wildly, the concrete is rotten and peeling. This "golden land" is located in a prime location on two bustling main roads of Pleiku: Le Hong Phong and Dinh Tien Hoang.
Faced with the above situation, Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, requested relevant departments and agencies to develop a plan to rearrange land and houses to effectively use office buildings and headquarters. This plan will be submitted to the Department of Finance for consideration and approval, and at the same time, a detailed plan will be made for land and house auction locations to avoid waste, violations, encroachment, conversion or misuse. The "golden land" areas will be considered to attract investment in suitable projects to develop the local socio-economy.
In Gia Lai, the Provincial People's Committee directed the Pleiku City People's Committee to review and inspect the planning and land use plans in these areas, and rearrange public assets according to regulations. Local authorities were also asked to propose plans to put the land into effective and proper use, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
