The total investment of the project is up to 16,285 billion VND, of which site clearance costs are more than 9,500 billion VND.
The compensation and site clearance work of the project is divided into 2 component projects. Component project 1 is implemented in Tan Tao and An Lac wards (formerly Binh Tan district), with a total capital of nearly 1,068 billion VND. The project affects 101 households, of which 61 households must be completely cleared.

About 2,140 households have their land recovered, of which 1,761 households must be completely cleared.

Currently, localities have issued decisions approving compensation, support, and resettlement plans.
According to the latest plan of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, localities will pay compensation, support, and resettlement money before April 15. The Chairman of the commune-level People's Committee shall issue a decision to recover land according to regulations before April 20.
The mobilization and persuasion to create consensus for cases where people with recovered land and owners of assets attached to land do not agree with the plan, in order to issue land recovery decisions, must be completed before April 25.
The compensation, support, and resettlement work of the project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026 to have land for the construction of the National Highway 1 expansion project.
National Highway 1 section passing through the western gateway is currently only 20 - 25 m wide with 6 lanes, often overloaded, especially during peak hours and holidays and Tet.
This is also a route directly connecting with many strategic traffic axes such as Vo Van Kiet, Nguyen Van Linh, Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway, Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway and Mien Tay bus station.

The project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1 (from Kinh Duong Vuong road to the border of Tay Ninh province) is about 9.62 km long, expanded to 60 m, with a scale of 10-12 lanes.
In which, the main route is arranged with 6 - 8 lanes with a design speed of 80 km/h; on both sides are 4 parallel lanes with a speed of 60 km/h.
The project utilizes the existing 2 Binh Dien bridges (6 lanes) and builds a new 6-lane bridge unit on the right side.
Important intersections such as Binh Thuan, Tan Kien and Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway intersection will be upgraded and expanded synchronously.
The project also builds new grade-separated intersections at Kinh Duong Vuong and Doan Nguyen Tuan street. In which, build a 4-lane overpass on National Highway 1 across the axes of Kinh Duong Vuong and Tran Dai Nghia.
The project is expected to be completed in 2028, helping to reduce traffic jams at the western gateway. In addition, the section of National Highway 1 after expansion, combined with Ring Road 2, Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4 in the future, will contribute to completing the inter-regional transport network, strengthening transport capacity and promoting economic development in the Southern region.
