On the morning of September 22, the 5th session (specialized session) of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2026-2031, approved the investment policy for 4 comprehensive urban embellishment projects in the South bank of Doi canal area.
Section from Rach Ong bridge to Mat bridge
The first project to implement the section from Rach Ong bridge to Mat bridge, belonging to Chanh Hung ward. The project will build about 1.2 km of embankment on the south bank of Doi canal; expand Pham The Hien street to 30 m; invest in rainwater and wastewater drainage systems, technical trenches, green trees, lighting and green parks - sports along the canal.
The expected land area to be recovered is about 6.13 ha, affecting about 944 cases, including 860 cases of full clearance and 84 cases of partial clearance.
The total investment of the project is about 6,870 billion VND, including more than 6,355 billion VND for compensation, support, and resettlement and more than 515 billion VND for construction and installation. The project is expected to be implemented in the period 2026-2031.
Section from Mat bridge to Hiep An bridge
Following the above section is the project from Mat bridge to Hiep An bridge, also belonging to Chanh Hung ward. In addition to building 2.1 km of embankment and expanding Pham The Hien street to 30 m, the project also expands Mat bridge, Hiep An bridge and completes technical infrastructure system, green park - sports along the canal.
It is expected that about 11.01 hectares of land will be recovered, affecting about 2,060 cases. Among these, 2,042 cases are completely cleared and 18 cases are partially cleared.
The total investment of the project is about 13,608 billion VND, of which compensation, support, and resettlement costs are about 12,046 billion VND and construction costs are nearly 1,562 billion VND. The expected implementation time is from 2026 to 2031.
Section from Hiep An bridge to Ba Tang bridge
From Hiep An bridge to Ba Tang bridge is the third project, about 2.6 km long, belonging to Binh Dong ward.
The project will build 2.6 km of embankment on the south bank of Doi canal, expand Pham The Hien street to 30 m, build a new Ba Tang bridge and complete the drainage system, wastewater, technical trenches, green trees, and lighting.
A green park - sports is also planned along the canal route.
The expected land area to be recovered is about 11.19 ha, with about 1,434 cases affected. Of which, 1,278 cases are completely cleared and 156 cases are partially cleared.
The project has a total investment of more than 10,634 billion VND, including nearly 9,220 billion VND for compensation, support, resettlement and more than 1,414 billion VND for construction and installation. The expected implementation time is the period 2026-2032.
Section from Ba Tang bridge to the end of the south bank of Doi canal
The last project to be implemented is the section from Ba Tang bridge to the south bank of Doi canal, also belonging to Binh Dong ward.
This route is about 2.9 km long, expected to build a south bank embankment of the Doi canal, expand Pham The Hien street to 30 m, and at the same time build new D8 road along the south bank of the canal according to the plan with a cross-section of 30 m and D7 road with a cross-section of 14 m.
Rainwater and wastewater drainage systems, technical trenches, green trees, lighting and green parks - sports are also invested synchronously.
The project is expected to recover about 20.85 hectares of land, affecting about 1,723 cases, of which 1,627 cases are completely cleared and 96 cases are partially cleared.
The total investment is nearly 17,903 billion VND, of which nearly 16,278 billion VND is for compensation, support, and resettlement and nearly 1,625 billion VND for construction and installation. The project is expected to be implemented in the period 2026-2032.
In the period 2025 - 2030, Ho Chi Minh City sets a target to relocate about 41,540 houses along rivers, canals, and ditches in 53 wards and communes.
