The groundbreaking event of more than 6,200 social housing units is one of the activities in response to the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh city being honored to be named after President Ho Chi Minh.
Attending the program were Mr. Nguyen Van Sinh - Deputy Minister of Construction, Mr. Hoang Nguyen Dinh - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and leaders of departments and branches in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to leaders of Becamex Group, more than 6,200 social housing units started are located in 4 projects including: social housing project in area 3 Dinh Hoa (phase 1) building 3 20-story apartment blocks, scale of 1,178 apartments; social housing project in area 4 Dinh Hoa, building 8 20-story apartment blocks, scale of 3,190 apartments; social housing project in area 2 Viet Sing building 2 22-story apartment blocks, scale of 923 apartments; social housing project in area 7 Viet Sing building 2 22-story apartment blocks, scale of 938 apartments.
The project will contribute to solving the urgent housing needs of workers, low-income people and beneficiaries of social housing policies according to regulations.
Notably, out of a total of more than 6,200 social housing units started this phase, Becamex Group plans to arrange about 1,000 apartments for development under the rental model. Thereby, meeting the housing needs of workers who do not have sufficient financial conditions to own housing but have a need to stabilize their long-term lives.
In addition, on the land fund of these projects, Becamex Group plans to continue investing in building about 2,000 more rental houses in the next phase. The simultaneous development of housing models for sale and rental housing contributes to diversifying social housing products, in line with the increasingly diverse real needs of the labor force working in industrial parks and economic development centers of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to records from 2011, Becamex Group has pioneered the implementation of social housing projects. To date, Becamex Group has completed 8 social housing projects with about 10,000 apartments, providing accommodation for about 27,000 people; at the same time, deploying about 37,000 worker housing units to serve about 92,000 workers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Nguyen Dinh - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that Ho Chi Minh City is assigned to implement 200,000 social housing units. From the beginning of 2026 to now, Ho Chi Minh City has built 19,000 units. In the third quarter of 2026, Ho Chi Minh City will start construction of 59 projects with a scale of about 54,900 apartments to be completed in 2027.
Mr. Hoang Nguyen Dinh highly appreciated Becamex Group's proactiveness and dedication in preparing resources to build housing for workers. He requested units to prepare maximum resources to deploy construction, ensuring the set progress. In the coming time, the city hopes that businesses will continue to deploy the construction of social housing for workers. Ho Chi Minh City will create a legal "green channel" to create favorable conditions for investors.
It is proposed that departments, agencies, branches and local authorities continue to accompany businesses; proactively remove arising difficulties and obstacles; promote the effectiveness of the "green channel" mechanism to accelerate the progress of social housing projects in the City" - Mr. Hoang Nguyen Dinh said.
