According to a reporter's observation on September 18 at the Cai Khe roundabout (Cai Khe ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city), trees and grass grow wildly here due to ineffective exploitation. Going deeper inside, one can see many large and small piles of garbage.
Living about 100m from the above land, Mr. Nguyen Tinh Lap (35 years old) - said that in the past, there were some very exciting activities here, but he did not understand why they were no longer organized, which was a waste.
“It’s a waste of property. Not only that, the vacant land like that makes many restaurants and households throw trash inside, which is very unsightly. Especially since this is a centrally-governed city, when tourists come to visit and see it, how will they evaluate it?”, Mr. Tinh Lap expressed.
Previously, on September 13, Can Tho City People's Committee issued Decision No. 2023/QD-UBND approving the plan and list of land plots to be auctioned for land use rights in 2024.
Accordingly, the total number of land lots put up for auction is 14 (of which, there are 4 land lots that were not auctioned in 2023 and will be transferred) with a total area of over 238,323m2.
Notably, of the 14 plots of land, there are 2 plots of land in prime locations considered "golden" land, namely the Cai Khe roundabout land with an area of over 23,000m2; the Hau River tourist area with an area of nearly 79,000m2 along the Hau River.
According to the decision, the locality is inviting investors to participate in the auction for commercial and service land lease for the above two "golden" lands, with a lease term of 50 years.
The purpose of the auction is to effectively exploit public land funds in accordance with approved land use planning and plans, increase revenue for the city budget, supplement public investment capital for social welfare; and improve the effectiveness of land use rights auctions in the city.
Besides, solving the land use needs of organizations and individuals to invest in socio-economic development of Can Tho city; solving housing needs, improving the housing quality of the people.
