The semi-final matches of the 2024 National U23 Volleyball Tournament took place today, September 18, thereby determining the 4 strongest teams that will compete for the championship on September 19.
VTV Binh Dien Long An women's team confirmed their position as championship candidates with a show of power against Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemicals. They only lost in set 2, but showed dominance in the remaining 3 sets. With a 3-1 victory, Tra My and her teammates convincingly won tickets to the final (19-25, 25-22, 22-25, 17-25).
Their opponent will be the Thai Nguyen women's team. They just defeated the Information Corps with a score of 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 26-28, 27-25). So far, Thai Nguyen has not lost a match since the beginning of the tournament and is the only women's team to do so.
The first men's match saw a more obvious difference in strength. Tan Cang The Cong easily won 3-0 against Ha Noi (25-17, 25-13, 25-14). The Cong has only lost 2 sets after 7 matches in this tournament, showing excellent form.
The remaining team to make it to the finals is the Ninh Binh men's team, after struggling to overcome Border Guard with a score of 3-2 (25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 24-26, 15-10). Winning the first two sets, Ninh Binh let their opponents equalize and had to enter the 5th set.
Thus, Ninh Binh will meet The Cong Tan Cang again in the final. Previously, in the group stage, Ninh Binh lost to this opponent with a close score of 2-3.
Tomorrow (September 19) will be the men's and women's final match, finding the two champions of the 2024 National U23.
