On March 5, Long An province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the social housing apartment project invested by Prodezi Long An Joint Stock Company. The social housing apartment project in Luong Hoa residential area (in Luong Hoa commune, Ben Luc district, Long An province) is the first social housing project to start construction in the province in 2025.
According to the People's Committee of Long An province, the demand for social housing in the province is currently very large, especially for low-income workers and laborers. The number of workers working in industrial parks is currently about 234,285 people and is expected to be 253,307 people by 2030. However, in reality, in the province, up to now, only 7 social housing projects for workers and low-income people have been completed and put into use with a total scale of about 5.41 hectares. The total completed floor area is 76,638m2 with 1,884 apartments, only enough to accommodate about 8,000 people.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Huynh Van Son - Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee - said that Long An province always sets the goal of economic development in Along with ensuring social security, ensuring progress and social justice, improving the quality of life of the people. Developing social housing and workers' housing is always considered a key task and is included in the target in the province's 5-year and annual socio-economic development plan.
To achieve this goal, in the past time, the Provincial People's Committee has approved the Social Housing Development Project, approved the annual plan and issued many directive documents to organize implementation. After 2 years of drastic implementation, up to now, each bottleneck in investment procedures for businesses has been basically removed, many projects have gradually completed the procedures to start construction in 2025.
According to Mr. Son, the social housing apartment project in Luong Hoa residential area is an important project to implement Resolution No. 94-NQ/TU dated August 26, 2024 of the Standing Committee of the Long An Provincial Party Committee on developing social housing, contributing to realizing the goal of developing social housing in the province; meeting the urgent need for developing social housing projects, ensuring housing for workers as well as solving the problem of stabilizing human resources for manufacturing enterprises.
The project has a construction investment scale of 2 blocks of 8-storey apartments with a total of 400 apartments; built on a land area of 7,103m2; construction floor area of 29,700m2; ensuring accommodation for more than 1,200 workers, with a model of building social housing in residential areas. The total investment of the project is nearly 422 billion VND.
Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee Huynh Van Son suggested that the investor continue to focus resources, speed up the construction progress of the project, ensure completion, and put the project into operation on schedule. The project must ensure quality, sustainability, long-term, synchronously implementing the construction of technical infrastructure works, social infrastructure, parking lots, utilities serving the community... to make the project a livable place, with beautiful space, improving environmental landscape as well as solving social housing needs for social subjects of the province.
In the coming time, Long An province will continue to promote the implementation of social housing projects, especially housing for workers; at the same time, determined to complete the investment in the construction of 71,250 social housing units by 2030 according to the plan assigned by the Prime Minister to Long An province.
