On March 19, information from the People's Committee of Nghe An province said that to date, the whole province has 39 social housing projects approved for investment policy with a scale of about 36,000 apartments. Of which, 32 projects have selected investors with about 28,200 apartments, and the remaining 7 projects have not selected investors with about 7,800 apartments.
In the period 2021 - 2025 alone, Nghe An has completed 4,223 social housing and industrial park worker dormitories. In the period 2026 - 2030, the province is assigned to complete 25,400 units, of which about 2,000 units are in 2026 alone.

Currently, 5 projects with about 2,177 apartments are being implemented in the area, expected to be completed in 2026. At the same time, the province is completing procedures to start construction of 6 more social housing projects with nearly 1,900 apartments and 3 worker accommodation projects with more than 2,700 apartments in the Southeast Economic Zone.
The demand for social housing development in Nghe An has increased sharply in recent years, associated with the rate of investment attraction and production expansion in industrial parks.
In 2025, Nghe An licensed 25 new FDI projects and adjusted capital for 20 projects, with a total registered capital of more than 1 billion USD, continuing to be in the group of localities attracting good investment nationwide.
Along with that, economic zones and industrial parks in the area currently have about 170 operating businesses, employing more than 64,000 workers and continuing to expand production scale.
Notably, the demand for labor recruitment is increasing very rapidly. In 2025 alone, the whole province has created jobs for hundreds of thousands of people, with more than 89,000 job positions recruited from businesses.
Stepping into 2026, labor demand continues to increase sharply, with some businesses needing to recruit up to 60,000 workers when expanding factories, showing great pressure on housing for workers.
Faced with actual pressure, the People's Committee of Nghe An province requested to tighten the progress of social housing projects, considering this as a mandatory criterion.
Functional agencies are assigned to develop detailed progress for each project, sign commitments with investors, and at the same time strengthen inspection and supervision monthly and quarterly to promptly handle slow projects.
For projects that are prolonged and extended many times, the province will comprehensively review, clearly identify responsibilities and final progress. In case of slow implementation, causing land waste, the extension will not be continued, considering recovery according to regulations.
Localities are also required to accelerate site clearance, remove obstacles related to land and environment, and create conditions for projects to be implemented on schedule.
According to Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Hoang Phu Hien, the development of social housing is identified not only as a social security task but also as a key factor to retain labor, serving the strategy of attracting investment and industrial development of Nghe An in the coming period.
