On August 14, Ms. Phan Thi An - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thanh Commune, Nghe An Province said that the situation of people encroaching on public land in the area, the local government is still focusing on and resolutely handling it.
"On the one hand, we continue to maintain regular patrol and guard teams, immediately prevent and handle illegal construction acts. For cases that have been built, continue to mobilize people to voluntarily dismantle and return the site. Currently, many households have complied with the demolition instructions. In some other cases, we have drawn up administrative penalty records, and have so far fined 1 household 20 million VND and 1 household 2.5 million VND.
For cases that have been illegally built before, the commune is reviewing each case as a whole, preparing records for handling or reporting to competent authorities for handling, the general spirit is to do it thoroughly, resolutely, not allowing people to encroach on public land, illegally build" - Ms. An emphasized.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, recently, the situation of encroachment on the protection corridor of the Wallude Irrigation Canal in Dong Thanh Commune and neighboring areas has become complicated. There was a time when people rushed to build temporary houses, dump soil, and illegally build works right on the irrigation corridor - a place managed by the State to serve agricultural irrigation.
In response to the press's reflection and supervision of the people, the commune government has established a Steering Committee for handling violations, publicizing the hotline, and organizing 24/24 supervision. Thanks to that, many households have voluntarily dismantled the violating works and restored them to their original state. Some cases that have not been voluntarily dismantled have been fined for administrative violations.
According to statistics, there are 27 violations in this area, of which 19 households encroach on irrigation land, 8 households build on land rented for services. The illegal allocation of land from the old Do Thanh commune such as allowing people to use 34m of extended road surface without a deadline is one of the reasons leading to prolonged violations.
Previously, the authorities of many localities in Nghe An also resolutely handled the act of setting up fake graves, encroaching on agricultural land to turn it into illegal cemeteries, and preparing documents to transfer to the police for handling according to the law.
The general spirit of local authorities is not to transfer, not to legalize violations, to handle them thoroughly to protect public assets, ensure order in land management.
