The Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City has just informed about the planning of Binh Trieu station (Hiep Binh Chanh ward, Thu Duc city).
More than 22 years ago, in March 2002, the Chief Architect of Ho Chi Minh City approved the detailed planning at a scale of 1/2000 for the Binh Trieu Traffic and Residential Hub Area, with a scale of more than 41 hectares.
In 2013, according to Decision No. 568/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on approving the adjustment of the Transport Development Plan of Ho Chi Minh City to 2020 and vision after 2020, Binh Trieu station was identified as the Northern technical passenger station.
However, after many years of planning, the project has yet to be implemented, causing many difficulties in the lives of more than 3,000 households with more than 15,000 people in this area.
By 2021, according to Decision No. 1769/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on approving the railway network planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Binh Trieu station will be the national railway passenger hub station of the Ho Chi Minh City hub area.
Up to now, Binh Trieu station has not yet been planned for investment by the Ministry of Transport.
However, according to the Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City, because Binh Trieu station plays an important role in planning the national railway network and connecting public transport in Ho Chi Minh City, planning the reserve area of Binh Trieu station is necessary.
This helps stabilize land use planning, properly manage land funds for railway development, and improve public passenger and freight transport capacity not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also for the whole country.
Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is organizing the preparation of the Project to adjust the general planning of Ho Chi Minh City to 2040, with a vision to 2060. In particular, to effectively exploit the Binh Trieu station area, the station's function has been supplemented, becoming a passenger station for urban railway lines serving the newly planned Metro lines (No. 3, 6, 8). At the same time, this area is also planned according to the TOD model (urban development oriented towards public transport).
After the Prime Minister approves the Ho Chi Minh City Master Plan Adjustment Project, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will continue to organize the preparation of a specialized transport project, including studying the investment plan for urban transport infrastructure projects.
