Manchester United's right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka will demand a part of the transfer fee before agreeing to leave this summer. The Red Devils are willing to sell the English defender when West Ham makes an offer of £18 million for the former Crystal Palace player. However, Wan-Bissaka's wage demands have become a major issue in this deal.
Wan-Bissaka would be very happy to stay at Old Trafford this summer, despite having only 12 months left on his contract. This means the defender is not in a hurry to lower his £90,000 per week wage. Sources say Wan-Bissaka's agent is asking Manchester United to return a part of the transfer fee if they want the deal to be completed quickly.
In this context, Manchester United is still planning to replace Wan-Bissaka. Noussair Mazraoui of Bayern Munich has emerged as the top target for the Red Devils. The Moroccan defender is said to have rejected West Ham's offer in the hope of joining Erik ten Hag's team. Mazraoui has previously worked with Ten Hag at Ajax, making 137 appearances.
Manchester United is expected to return to Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt before the summer transfer window closes. Both players are said to be waiting for the Red Devils' move, with their personal terms already agreed upon.
There is confidence that at least one deal will be made, although Manchester United still needs to agree on the price with Bayern. Last month, the Bavarians rejected a bid from Manchester United.
Ten Hag trusts his transfer system, which includes Dan Ashworth, Jason Wilcox, and Omar Berrada. These names are expected to help Ten Hag assemble a satisfactory team for the new 2024-2025 season. However, Ten Hag also acknowledges that player transfers depend heavily on timing.
"The new leadership team is really eager to do business, to make deals, and they are doing it. But if the time comes, we must do it. I don't know, I cannot say now, but I'm sure they will seize the opportunity when it arises." - the Dutch coach said.
Time is running out for Manchester United to complete their squad before the Premier League kicks off. They will face Manchester City in the Community Shield at the end of the week and start the Premier League on August 16.
