Houthi forces suffer more than 40 airstrikes from Saudi Arabia

The spiral of air retaliation between Saudi Arabia and rebels in Yemen is heating up, leading to the risk of a full-scale war recurring.

According to AFP, Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen said on September 10 that the Saudi Arabian army had conducted about 40 airstrikes.

The Saudi enemy's air force has carried out about 40 raids in recent hours in the provinces of Taiz, Hodeida, Al-Jawf and Marib," Houthi news agency Saba reported.

On the same day, the Saudi Arabian civil defense agency issued a notice lifting the state of emergency in Khamis Mushait province in the Southwest, after the warning was issued for the fourth time in just 24 hours amid fighting with the Houthi. Civil defense officials affirmed that the danger had passed immediately after the warning was issued.

The alliance led by Saudi Arabia said that at least 73 people were injured in 4 southern cities of the kingdom, including Khamis Mushait, after recent Houthi attacks targeting the world's largest oil exporter.

The Houthi claimed to have attacked an airbase in Khamis Mushait and oil infrastructure in neighboring cities, one of the biggest attacks on Saudi Arabia since the US and Israeli wars targeting Iran broke out in February. The coalition said that the Houthi continued to attack national assets and infrastructure yesterday.

Fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi has escalated in recent months, raising concerns about the possibility of a larger conflict, after the ceasefire agreement brokered by the United Nations in 2022 largely ended many years of war.
