The Newcastle striker will be on the radar of a number of clubs. Calls for Arsenal to sign a new striker are growing louder and the 25-year-old looks like the perfect fit.
Isak's move to the Emirates has been a talked-about move with no real approach made, but there are some signs the Gunners are planning a move.
The signing of Mikel Merino last summer means that, along with Martin Odegaard, Arsenal now have two of the three midfielders who started Real Sociedad's 2019-20 campaign. And who is the centre-forward in that line-up? Isak.
Outgoing Real Sociedad sporting director Roberto Olabe - who signed Isak for the La Liga club that same season - has also been linked with a move to replace Edu at Arsenal.
However, the main reason Arsenal want Isak is because he is one of the most complete strikers in Europe at the moment. Coach Mikel Arteta's squad seems to lack such a "number 9" to conquer the title.
Since the last week of October, only Mohamed Salah has scored more goals than Isak in all competitions across Europe's top five leagues, one of which was the Swede's winner against Arsenal in early November.
Along with three other assists in that time, Isak is proving why he is considered the most complete striker in the league. The 25-year-old's surge in goals and assists has come as a surprise. Newcastle's slow start to the season and Isak's toe injury meant he only managed one goal in his first eight league games.
But once coach Eddie Howe was able to find balance in key areas of the pitch, it created a structure for Isak to thrive.
"Newcastle are also creating chances for Isak. It's not that he's doing it himself, the team are playing in a really good way not only for Isak but for other players. We're seeing goals from different aspects of the team.
"When you run like we do, you can't do it with just one player. Isak is doing his part by finishing the chances, but he's also happy for the players to create those chances," Howe said.
Balance and structure were found when Howe moved Sandro Tonali into a defensive midfield role, allowing Bruno Guimaraes the freedom to roam further forward.
Since that change, influenced by a 4-2 defeat to Brentford in early December, a match in which Guimaraes labelled Newcastle a mess, the Magpies have won all six matches in all competitions.
With Isak's rise to become one of the world's top strikers, the question is, where will he land next? How much will they have to pay? And will it be Arsenal?
